Meet Christina Hoehn-Shackelford
Background:
Christina Hoehn-Shackelford earned a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy/Community Counseling from the University of Akron and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Legal Studies from Heidelberg University (formerly Heidelberg College). She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor (LPCC-S) in the state of Ohio.
While attending The University of Akron for graduate school, Christina worked for Child Guidance and Family Solutions in Summit County as a case manager in the intensive in-home department. She worked with families throughout the county to connect them to services, provide support, and helped children and teenagers build coping and social skills. Christina completed her graduate school internship at Child Guidance and Family Solutions as an outpatient therapist and continued to work at the agency after graduating with a dual degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Community Counseling.
Christina also held a position with Catholic Charities in Cuyahoga County in which she completed mental health assessments and in-home therapy with family and individuals.
Counseling Approach:
Christina utilizes a systemic approach to therapy, focusing not only on the individual, but on their relationships and family involvement as well. She has been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for clients with a history of trauma (a single event or multiple events), and she utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for most clients. She has completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Christina specializes in working with college students and adults in the areas of anxiety, depression, life adjustment issues, stress, relational issues, and premarital support and counseling. She also works with individuals who may not have mental health concerns but are just looking to improve their overall life satisfaction and work toward their life goals. Christina joined Alma Via Counseling Services in 2013 and took ownership in 2016.

- Do I have benefits for mental health counseling, CPT codes 90791 and 90837?
- Do I have a deductible to meet before insurance pays?
- Do I have a co-pay and/or co-insurance?
- Is Christina Hoehn-Shackelford with Alma Via Counseling Services LLC (NPI# 1881821361) a covered provider under my plan?
